"It’s hard to go.
Sometimes scary and half the time you’ll be wondering why the hell you’re in "dangerous" Mexico
or Tennessee or Belgrade or Mongolia or wherever your itchy feet takes you.
There will be boondoggles and discombobulated days,
freaked-out nights and metaphorical flat tires.
The point is, just GO!"

This is Day 2 of our trip and the weather was amazing. We started our day frolicking the Historic Downtown or the Zocalo where everything is vibrant and alive. The city gives you a good contrast of old and new. We visited Palacio Nacional, the White House of Mexico. In this grandiose palace, you can see murals painted by the famous Diego Rivera (Frida Kahlo's husband). The murals depicted indigineous life before the Spain conquered Mexico. The murals are colorful and it covers the vast walls of the palace.
The Cathedral in Mexico City reminded us of the churches in the Philippines. As you know, the Philippines was conquered by Spain for 330 plus years. This cathedral is one of the largest churches across the Americas. It was built in a span of two centuries and the architecutre/design is inspired by cathedrals found in Spain. This picture don't do justice on how humungous the cathedral was.
Depsite its reputation, Mexico City is a fun city to visit. The steets are easy to navigate and they have an efficient transportation system plus Uber (do not underestimate the power of Uber in this city). No doubt, despite the continous modernization of the nation's capital, the city still carries a colonial feel. The city is fascinating in its own right and be ready to be surprised.
