Yes, you read it right. We moved to our new home with dogs in tow. Writing this blog post makes me wonder: how did this happen so fast? It just seems like yesterday that we announced that we are putting a pause on our expat life and that we are finally settling down. Apparently, plans did not go as expected and here we are again, after one year and a half, we are living in a new country.

When we heard of the opportunity of living in Tel Aviv, Israel - it piqued our interest, of course! Naturally, we are keen about the idea of temporarily living in Tel Aviv but to live in one of the most vibrant cities in the world is a no-brainer.

In less than a month, we were able to sell our house (luckily, we sold it fast), quit jobs, changed jobs and packed our house (sent our stuff to storage) and just like that we were ready to go. We did a month pit stop in Pennsylvania to spend holidays with the family. Brock left early to find us an apartment in Tel Aviv and I, on the other hand, fixed the paperwork required to move the dogs to Israel and shipped our clothes/things to our new home.

Moving in Israel, it's been one hell of a ride and a whole new experience for us. We have lived in the Middle East before (in a GCC Country) but not Israel. Israel is deemed unsafe, but that did not stop us. It never stopped us from deciding where to visit or where to live. Thank goodness, we are fearless and dreamers to the end, if we weren't, we wouldn't know what we would have missed.

So here we are again, here in Tel Aviv, our new city. This town is the type of city you quickly fall in love with, the kind of city where you feel at home. Why? Tel Aviv has a big heart and welcomes newcomers with so much life.

Brock found an excellent apartment in the heart of the city. The apartment is a 5 minute walk to the beach, 7 minute walk to the mall, 12 minute walk to Carmel Market (if you are a Tel Avivian, you know this is a must place to go and see - all the flavors of Israel can be seen and tasted here at the market), 7 minute walk to the US Embassy and every street corner near our house has a restaurant, cafe or bar. We couldn't ask for a perfect location. What makes it even more perfect is that our apartment has a yard for the dogs.

One and half years of settling down doesn't seem long to some people, but it undoubtedly slowed us down. It was a beautiful experience owning a home. Our home briefly gave us a sense of root and stability. It wasn't easy leaving the seasons of life you learned to love and the people you meet along the way. It certainly taught us to appreciate the stories and faces of the people who somehow touched our lives.

New country, new home, new place, new culture, and new faces.  On this journey, adventure chose us. Two months and a half later, we have rekindled our romance with our expat life. Tel Aviv reminded us again of why we love this type of lifestyle. Experiencing something new again in a long time is very stimulating and invigorating.

Perhaps, with this new life, what keeps us going is the thrill of the challenge and the promise of uncertainty. Our lives is a testament to "life is full of surprises," and one thing is certain we will soak this experience up.  May we continue to enjoy the magic of new beginnings. May we continue to fall in love with Tel Aviv. May we continue to respond to any call that excites our spirit.

Congratulations on your move. We did our last big one really fast also, five weeks to pack up and move from USA to New Zealand. Tel Aviv looks beautiful, and much more modern than the image I had of it in my mind.
