“Humanity's true moral test, its fundamental test… consists of its attitude towards those who are at its mercy: animals.” - Milan Kundera Spotted in Italy, Switzerland, Malaysia, France. and now the traveling pandas are here in South Korea to raise awareness on the decreasing number of pandas in the world. This idea was thought of and made by a French Artist. He made 1,600 papier-mache pandas to symbolize the number of the few pandas left in this world. This simple but very symbolic gesture is a reminder for us humans to take care endangered species. If you want to "adopt" one and to know more about them, click here. Usually, these pandas are publicly displayed and the pictures I saw was a sight to see. When I saw online that the traveling pandas are here in South Korea, I was excited. I wanted to see this exhibition since I have seen this campaign before paraded on famous landmarks in the world. What are the chances that they are also here in Korea? Luckily, my friend Rachel wanted to see it too. We had a great time photographing this cute pandas. Sadly, Brock was working so he wasn't able to witness this. It was such a nice walk, seeing kids enjoy this event. On the other hand, it was also Buddha's Birthday weekend so there was a lot of celebrations going on around South Korea during this time. Overall, I had a great time with a friend visiting Seoul and the exhibit is quite interesting but we were both not happy about the location of the exhibit since it was on the steps of the building (we both thought it was going to be on a main square or something). The 1600 pandas were quite crammed at the steps. I would love to see the pandas near a famous landmark and at open field. NOT that it matters right? At least, South Koreans are now aware of this problem that the world is facing. Would I visit one of this traveling pandas exhibit again? Definitely! Lucky for you, if you missed this particular exhibit, you still have chance to see it till July 31, 2015 as they are also traveling around different locations in South Korea. I hope this campaign will bring the desired results. It really is awful that so many animals are dying off. The world my children are growing into will be so different than the one I grew up in. I hope it will still be livable, but it would be so sad if that was a world without pandas, Siberian Tigers, or so many other animals.
