SALZBURG, AUSTRIA + SOUND OF MUSIC TOUR

10/22/2008

Our VERY FIRST trip as a couple was in Europe. We did a 21 days tour of Europe from Austria to France. Yes, very early in our relationship we caught the travel bug already! They say travel is the best instrument to really know someone. Well, you really do! Planning is hectic, the logistics is oftentimes stressful and arguing is always involved but it’s all worth it when you wake up with the one you love in a different country. Oops, I forgot to mention that I also met my future in-laws on this trip! Talk about MORE stress right? Going back to my previous statement, again, traveling is worth it!  Kidding aside, I am very fortunate to have very good in-laws, we had a great time and conversations was never ending!

Austria is the Mozart Mecca. Who wouldn't love this place? Great scenery, sinful chocolate bars, and charming old town.
Austria already captivated me with just one word - chocolate. I am sweet tooth kind of gal - that's why! Needless to say, I was very happy to have a taste of the decadent and the original Sacher Torte here in Salzburg.

I didn't believe in destiny.
I look up, you're standing next to me -
What a feeling.
What a feeling in my soul -
Love burns brighter than sunshine.

While walking around the old city, we stumbled upon a very colorful and pretty cemetery.

On this trip, we stayed at Hotel Goldener Hirsch, this hotel deserves a shout out since it boasts a Salzburg style decor, we had an excellent stay there, and customer service was great. The hotel's beauty and charm - I will forever remember. Not only that the hotel is proud of a long history, but also it is centrally located and is walking distance to restaurants, the old town and shops.

This is a picture of the original Sacher Torte from Hotel Sacher. It's a combination of rich chocolate and apricot jam.
Our next stop was Venice, Italy. We took a scenic train ride from Austria to Italy. We came during fall season, the trees are in symphony of colors and we were just at awe by the beauty of nature. It was a long train ride, at least 4 to 5 hours but it was worth it. One of the best scenic route to date!

Oh, what beautiful photos! Austria has never been on my travel bucket list, but it is now! How exciting to see where the Sound of Music was filmed. Now I'm humming songs from that musical. The place looks purely magical! The chocolate looks divine, too!

It would be really nice to relive the moments in the sound of music. I would like to visit the part where the show a vast track of green lands in the movie.

Salzburg looks amazing! Did you sing in the hills? It's true, you get to know someone when you're traveling, which is why an oft-repeated advice is, don't get married until you've traveled together! :)
