"Travel early and travel often.
Live abroad, if you can.
Understand cultures other than your own.
As your understanding of other cultures increases,
your understanding of yourself
and your own culture will increase exponentially."

Here is a glimpse of what Sarajevo looks like. This is a country of contrast - the East meets West atmosphere is very much seen while visiting Sarajevo. This country was conquered by Ottoman Turks and had influences from Austro-Hungarian empire. When we arrived, we decided to walk around Old Sarajevo and it was very close to the hotel we stayed. This is the best way to feel the city, by strolling around pedestrian streets and grand boulevards. (The picture above is shot at the memorial called Vjecna Vetra or the Eternal Flame, a site commemorating victims of World War II in Sarajevo.)
This is Sarajevo's Catholic Cathedral wherein Pope John Paull II served mass in 1997.
Remnants of the war can still actually be seen on some buildings around Sarajevo.
The Turkish Quarter called Bascarsija.
The last two pictures vividly show the contrasts of this surprising city. For now, this is a short glimpse of what Sarajevo has to offer, I will discuss on my next post why Sarajevo surprised us. We are truly mesmerized by you, Sarajevo.
