TALES FROM THE ROAD (Damyang, South Korea)

A garden without bamboo is like a day without sunshine.

When everything is still so new to us, week after week, we find a new place to go and seek for another adventure. We decided to see the Bamboo Forest or Juknokwon in Damyang, South Korea. It's about a 3 hour drive from where we live, south of Seoul. Today, this was our first time to see a bamboo forest. So, when was the last time you did something for the first time? For us, this adventure marks another first! The Bamboo Forest is part of a bigger Cultural Village that surrounds the beautiful and scenic area of Damyang. True happiness outdoor + our love for adventures are our motivating factors to continue our road trip despite the typhoon forecast. When we woke up, we saw grey and threatening storm clouds but the sun was out, a slight grain of hope that weather might turn out nice anyway. Despite the rain, heat and humidity, failed GPS guidance, wrong address, tourist signs that are not in English or it's too small to read (we have to decipher for ourselves which is which), and a few wrong turns, we managed to get there (without World War III breaking out between me and Brock - mind you!).

Such a relief that we got there, time and time again, Korea has never failed to surprise us. We are even lucky enough to get great shots, after all, cloudy weather is great for taking pictures. They say the adventure is the journey itself, well, it really was. These road trips (together with our misfortunes) are forever weaved into our lives no matter what. One scenic road trip, one for the books, memories for a lifetime.  For these are stories of love and adventure, what life is truly made of.

That means a lot from a fellow traveller like you, who appreciates photography. :)
