THE ONE WITH AUTUMN IN NEW YORK (New York City, USA)

12/1/2014

In the autumn on the ground, between the traffic and the ordinary sounds,
I am thinking signs and seasons while a north wind blows through,
I watch as lovers pass me by.
Walking stories - whos and hows and whys.
Musing lazily on love.
Pondering you.
I'll give it time, give it space and be still for a spell.
When it's time to walk that way we wanna walk it well.
- Brooke Fraser

We flew back to the US to spend time with family and friends plus attend a wedding in New York. It was good to get a bite of the Big Apple again and get to hear and feel the familiar sounds of the city that never sleeps. Once in a while, a city escape is something that we look forward to because we get to eat different types of food, since New York has been a hodgepodge of different cultures. Of course, we were able to indulge on good food on our visit.

We were also on a mission to see the queen of 50 states aka Statue of Liberty, since last time we visited we weren't able to see her. “Autumn in New York – Why does it seem so inviting? Autumn in New York, it spells the thrill of first-nighting.” (Vernon Duke) No wonder why people say, autumn in New York is something to look forward too. They were right.

Upon checking in at the hotel, we learned that Jennifer Aniston checked in at the same hotel that was booked to us by the couple who is getting married. Both Brock and I sounded amazed and laughed. We were happy to know about it but I also laughed thinking we won't see her anyway. Well, lucky for us, we did see her. Brock and I don't usually get starstruck but this incident was caught in camera and ended up a story that we love to tell people (scroll down to see the photo featured on Just Jared). Brock even bumped into her going to the bathroom and had a "brief" conversation.

Honestly, we won't bore you with the usual travel tip on how to get around New York, its been said and done a million times. Instead, we want to give you a visual storytelling of this beautiful chaos that is New York.

That is our beautiful hometown, even my neighborhood! It's always a pleasure for us to see travelers enjoy our town, especially our 'hood! Autumn is magic in NYC, perfect weather and everybody is usually in a good mood. Loved your pictures. Makes me miss my beautiful city, especially because we're about 2 months away until we start our long-term travels.
